to take a step without feet

Every once in a while you are blessed with the opportunity to know someone who is truly good. Someone who would do anything they could to help you if you needed help, someone to play with if it was time to play, someone who would never impose, hurt anyone's feelings or cause problems in any way.

My husband's best friend, Johnny, was a truly good person. Johnny lost his battle with cancer on Monday evening and he will be sorely missed.

This is love:
to fly toward a secret sky;
to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment.
First to let go of life.
Finally, to take a step without feet.
Rest in Peace, Johnny

magazine image characters

Thanks to all who took the time to watch and comment on my first video last week. One of the comments I received was to show more about assembling magazine images into characters so that's what I have for you today.

I used a mail order clothing catalog, a landscaping magazine and a Cosmopolitan for the images that I started with and had them all cut out prior to filming to save time. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks for watching!

my first video tutorial

I did it - my first video tutorial. Not saying it's a good one, but I did it - YAY!!

This week I joined an altered envelope mail art swap with a challenge to use only magazine images. This is what I came up with for my entry.

I had so much fun making it that I decided to make a duplicate and video the process for a tutorial. Please bear in mind that this is my first attempt at any kind of video.

Following my original edit I had it down to 26 minutes but after trying to upload for over 3 hours and not even being at 10% I realized more cuts must be made. After the next edit I narrowed it down to 14 minutes. It turned out a little disjointed in places but at least I was able to get it uploaded and learned a few things for next time such as:
  1. Film from a different angle so my flabby arms (and other parts) are not in the picture so much.
  2. Stop speaking in the third person.
  3. Learn how to fast forward through monotonous parts.
  4. "Heat tool" should not be repeated more than 15 times in a short video.
Other than those issues I welcome all constructive comments.
So... without further ado... here it is!

mail art - altered envelope tutorial

Woot, Woot!
Thanks for stopping by.

Fountain of Youth

It's all about youth today.... Youth as in the new image kit by Tumble Fish Studio called "Youthtopia" and it's available at

All the images on this journal page are from the kit. When I saw this girl she seemed so pensive to me and somehow older than her years so I thought the quote was fitting. Anyway... hoping you are not feeling broken in any way today but if you are, remember it will always get better!
