Face in the World

I received my first face for the Face in the World round robin. This is the beginning of Trish Nonaka's face.

For my contribution I added a mouth and nose and began the underlayers of color and shading. I used Derwent aquatone pencils with gesso as well as pan pastels and charcoals.

It's hard to know when to stop and when to keep going but 3 more people will be working on her so should be fun to watch the progress.

Face in the World

The latest fun thing I've joined is a  Facebook group called "Face in the World". In this group we have teams of 5 players and we are doing a round robin of sorts painting a face.

For those with blogs that like buttons, I created one for this event :oD
It can be grabbed here, or if you prefer to copy the code, it is here:

Each person prepares their background and beginning of their face then sends it on down the list for the next person. Should be a fun challenge.

my beginning piece
Among other fun things going on is a bet with my husband over the ''right"way to peel a banana. I have an unscientific post on my Facebook wall to see which of us is the winner. I will either be dancing the happy dance over being the winner or whining as the loser slipping on the banana peel later today...
Now I must get the day rolling - eat a banana, they're loaded with potassium (and then let us know on FB which way to peel it)!

art journaling - the early years...

I thought I would post a couple of the pages from my Altered Renaissance journal that didn't make the magazine edition.

coming soon to a store near you...

Aside from whining about he never ending winter we seem to be having I've been working on painting both the walls in our house and several art journals and have been neglecting my blog. However, today the mailman delivered a lovely diversion that I want to share.

I'm excited to share that I am published in the Spring issue of Art Journaling magazine. This is an amazing issue including journals by Teesha Moore (yes, I'm in the same issue as Teesha Moore - can you believe it!!!), Mindy Lacefield, Carrie Todd and so many more.

This issue goes on new stands April 1st - you won't want to miss it.

Stay warm...
