It's Official

These journal pages are done using images from the new kit by Tumble Fish Studio called "It's Official". You can find the kit at

The first piece is just a little fun self-portrait. I've always been something of a late bloomer. Usually the last one to 'get' a joke, head in the clouds, etc. so this was sort of fun. Embrace your bloomers!

The next page is a page from my "Empty Nest" journal. As some of you know I've been really sad this past week as our youngest child has left home to move on to college. I'm suffering from the dreaded 'empty nest' emotional roller coaster.
It's been a week now and I have stopped crying every hour on the hour so that's a plus. Still.... he better call me from time to time!
Thank you for stopping by.
Now go call your mother (or someone who loves you)!

more altered renaissance

I've been playing in my art room almost all day today. My fingertips have no grooves left, they're covered with gel medium. My arms are full of color wash overspray and I have conspicuous gesso blotches in several places - what a FUN mess I am!

I'm really hooked on altering renaissance portraits right now. This is one of the pieces I worked on today.

This is my altered version of Portrait of a Lady by Piero del Pollaiuolo.

I hope you get to play at whatever makes your heart happy today too!

Thanks for stopping by.

eat your carrots

I had a productive art day today. I worked on a few pieces that are in various stages of completion and managed to finish a couple of them.

I'd been trying to figure out how to complete this little bunny piece and it just wasn't coming to me. My friend Roc suggested making 'carrot flowers'.

Perfect - just what it needed. Thanks Roc!

The oddly growing carrots remind me of this Rumi quote. “The garden of the world has no limits, except in your mind.”
